Wilmer R. Nissley

 Wilmer R. Nissley, 94, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Mennonite Home Communities. Born in Penn Township, he was the son of the late Clayton and Katie Rudy Nissley. He was the loving husband of Ruth C. Metzler Nissley and they observed their 74th wedding anniversary last month. Wilmer retired as a farmer and salesman for Pioneer Seed Company. He was a member of Crossings Community Church, Manheim where he served as a Trustee, SS teacher and youth leader. He loved people and was passionate about sharing his faith in Jesus. His interests included traveling, golfing, hunting in Potter Co, snowmobiling and watching the Phillies. He enjoyed spending time with family and annual vacations to the Chesapeake Bay. 

 Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Marvin husband of Linda Sauder Nissley of Mount Joy, Ann wife of Richard Miller of Mount Joy, Linda wife of Leon Boll of East Petersburg, Donna wife of Larry Wenger of New Holland and Dennis husband of Kathleen Groff Nissley of Mount Joy, 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Keri Miller, a brother, Clayton R. Nissley and six sisters, Emma Landis, Florence Oberholtzer, Grace Nissley, Rhoda Hostetter, Helen Reitz and Anna Nissley.

 The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Mennonite Home for the care they provided to Wilmer.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Wilmer’s Funeral Service at Crossings Community Church, 8 South Erisman Road, Manheim on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Wilmer’s memory to Global Disciples 315 W. James St. Suite 202, Lancaster Pa. 17603.
