Wilma J. Hammond, 87, of Lititz, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Moravian Manor. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late E. Guy and Janet Pfautz Brubaker. Formerly of Glen Rock, NJ, she shared 55 years of marriage with her husband, the late Robert E. Hammond, who passed away in 2003.
Wilma was an excellent seamstress. She made clothing for her family and continued to sew after moving to Moravian Manor, by helping residents when they needed clothing altered or mended. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, playing the piano, listening to music and reading mystery books.
A graduate of Lititz High School, Wilma was a member of the Lititz Moravian Congregation and a volunteer at the Moravian Manor gift shop. She was a former member of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary in Ridgewood and the Glen Rock Woman’s Club
Wilma was a loving mother and grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Wilma’s family is very thankful for the wonderful care she received from the kind and compassionate staff at Moravian Manor.
She is survived by her son, R. Michael, husband of Eileen Hammond, Galloway, OH; four daughters, Wanda, wife of Jack McGuinness, East Windsor, NJ, Karen, wife of Peter Leiwant, Henderson, NV, Debra, wife of Paul Lach, Oakland, NJ, and Linda, wife of Jeffrey Gabriel, Lancaster; 6 grandchildren, Kelly McGuinness, Bryan, husband of Lauren McGuinness, Alex, wife of Daniel Baldwin, Scott Leiwant, Jennifer and Kathryn Lach; and a sister, Nelda, wife of Ross Evans, Dover, DE.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to the Funeral Service for Wilma at the Lititz Moravian Church, 8 Church Square, Lititz, on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Eschbach Parlor. Interment will be in the Lititz Moravian Cemetery.
