Willis A. Kilheffer, 87, formerly of East Hempfield Township passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Landis Homes, Lititz. Born in Manheim Township, he was the son of Abram H. and Dorothy L. Amand Kilheffer. He was the husband of the late Rhoda E. Esbenshade Kilheffer who died in 2013. Willis was a farmer in East Hempfield Township. He was also a school bus driver for the Hempfield School District, a carpenter and was employed by B.R. Kreider & Sons for many years. Willis graduated from Manheim Township High School and he received a Certificate in Bible from Lancaster Bible College. He was a lifelong, active and faithful member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church where he served as a Sunday School superintendent and teacher. Willis was also a member of the Mennonite Historical Society, PA Farmers Association, Hans Herr House Foundation, Black Rock Camp Association and former President of the East Petersburg Historical Society. His interests included traveling, hunting, genealogy and he enjoyed hosting and tour guiding for the United Nations foreign staff and families.
Surviving are two sons, James L. husband of Martha Peifer Kilheffer, Gerald L. husband of Sylvia M. Hess Kilheffer both of Manheim, two daughters, Dolly wife of Curtis Martin of Palmyra, Donna L. wife of Mervin Hershey of New Holland, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a sister, Irene Hilsher wife of Walt Eby of Hershey. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Henry Kilheffer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Monday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
