William T. “Bill” Johnson, 93, of Elizabethtown, died peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday October 25, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster PA. He was the loving husband of Stella (Gawlik) Johnson. Born in New Kensington, PA he was the son of the late Ray Courson Johnson and Hazel Johnson. Bill as he was affectionately known was employed for many years in the sales department for Chevron Corporation. He was a high school graduate and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Bill was a proud Army veteran of WW II, serving with the 30th infantry in the European Campaign, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart, Silver Star, and 7 Bronze Stars. Bill was an active mason for most of his adult life and enjoyed volunteering for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He also enjoyed volunteering for the USO in Philadelphia. His hobbies included golf, reading, and playing canasta.
Surviving is his loving wife Stella of Elizabethtown, a cousin Russell Remaley and his wife Mary Joy of Delmont, and loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown PA on Wednesday October 29, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Gary S. George officiating. Private Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Wednesday at Sell Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
