William J. Clarke, Sr.

The family of William J. Clarke, Sr. of Elizabethtown, PA and formerly of Princeton, NJ, sadly announces his passing Friday December 28, 2012 at the Masonic Health Care Center, Elizabethtown. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Frutchey) Clarke of Elizabethtown. Born in Elizabethtown he was the son of the late Luther and Kathryn (Ashenfelter) Clarke and a graduate of Elizabethtown College. He was a retired Chief Financial Officer for Keystone Insurance of Wilmington, DE, and also a former Chief Financial Officer of Reliance Insurance. He was a member of Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, Lawrenceville, NJ where he was a former trustee and deacon. He was a former member of the board of directors of Trenton Country Club, Trenton NJ, and was a 33rd degree mason of the Princeton Lodge. He was an avid golfer albeit a frustrated one and the proud owner of two holes-in-one including one on the day after his daughter's wedding. Surviving in addition to his wife Karen are two sons, William J. Jr. husband of Shelly Clarke of New York, NY and Bryan husband of Desiree Clarke of Hamilton, NJ; a daughter Cheryl wife of Robert Saxman of York, PA; and three grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Gwen Kessler. A memorial service will be held this Saturday at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, 2688 Main St. at 1:30PM, with a reception to follow.
