Wilbur E. Witman Jr.

Wilbur E. Witman Jr., 83 of Manheim, died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Born in Rheems, he was the son of the late Wilbur E. Sr. and S. Ruth Reichenbach Witman. Wilbur was the loving husband of Debra L. Herr Witman, and they observed their 33rd Wedding Anniversary in February of this year. He was a 1958 graduate of Manheim Central High School. Wilbur worked many years for the former Trojan Boat Company, Lancaster, in assembly and maintenance; he then followed his passion being an Independent Logger throughout Central Pennsylvania. In his later years Wilbur worked in the packing department for Moses B. Glick LLC. in Fleetwood. He enjoyed woodworking throughout his life. Wilbur was inducted into the Pennsylvania Fast Pitch Hall of Fame, as a talented Fast Pitch Softball Pitcher; he helped many Business and Community League Teams win many tournaments, including a State Championship in 1972. Wilbur loved his family deeply, and cherished all the time he could spend with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Deb are two sons: Adam husband of Michele Witman, of Maytown, Jason “Jake” Witman of Manheim, two stepsons: Douglas II husband of Jessica Unangst of Columbia, Michael husband of Stefanie Unangst of Cape May, NJ, four granddaughters: Reagan Witman, Alexandria wife of Devin Pickel, Kyra Unangst, Oaklynne Unangst, two great grandsons: Michael and Vincent Pickel, Mother-in law, Theresa Herr of Lancaster, Sister-in-law, Cindy wife of Joseph Labezius of Lancaster, and Brother-in-law, Gary Herr of Lancaster. Preceding him in death is a Father-in-law, Dale Herr.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Wilbur’s Memorial Service in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Communities, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in White Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Wilbur’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
