Wendell L. Buckwalter, 55, of Elizabethtown, went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Thursday, May 16, 2019 unexpectedly from natural causes. He was the loving and devoted husband of Darlene (Musser) Buckwalter, and they shared almost 31 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Harold and Dolores (Brubaker) Buckwalter, Lititz. Wendell was a self-employed truck owner/operator. He maintained and drove his 1988 Peterbilt for 31 years and was accident-free for over 2 million miles.
Wendell loved his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully. He served as church treasurer of Calvary Bible Church, Mount Joy, where he was a faithful member. Wendell was a giving man and always put others’ needs before his own. His love and care for his family and friends were evident in all aspects of his life. Wendell also enjoyed running and ran his first marathon last September.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are four sons whom he cherished, Benjamin husband of Kari Buckwalter, East Petersburg, Aaron husband of Tiffany Buckwalter, Mount Joy, Daniel Buckwalter, Whitefish, MT, and David Buckwalter, Elizabethtown; thrilled to be "Papa" to his three grandchildren, Ella, Owen, and Zoey, and was anxiously awaiting his 4th in October; a brother Douglas husband of Keri Buckwalter, Lititz, and two sisters, Cindy wife of Joseph Gregory, Piney Flats, TN, and Kristine Buckwalter, Black Mountain, NC.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service, at Calvary Bible Church, 629 Union School Road, Mount Joy, on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Private interment will be in Cross Roads BIC Cemetery, Mount Joy. There will be a time of viewing and visitation on Friday at Calvary Bible Church from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
