Véronique Clerveau, 82, known to those close to her as “Mamote” died peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Port Salut, Haiti, she was the daughter of the late Benoit and Felicia Salomon Clerveau. She was a dynamic, sensitive, kind, and welcoming woman. For many years Veronique had a special mission to serve her community. She did not go to medical school, but she had great ability in certain areas. Such as: midwife, masseuse to name a few. She assisted the sick at home and even in the hospital. She worked at the Port-Salut hospital until retirement. She cared about the education of her children and all the young people she met. She was very hospitable; the doors of her house were always open to everyone regardless of their social status. In good times and bad, she made her Bible and her song of hope a “weapon.” She read a few passages every day. To repeat to one of her grandchildren, “Grann mwen kòn tout bib.”
In summary, she was a woman full of human values (feeling of solidarity, wisdom, and respect for others). She had the gift of being of service to everyone, at all levels.
Surviving are seven children: daughter, Marie Fernande Dareus ( Robert), son, Jean-Renold Mondesir (Naomie), son, Geral Mondesir Maritzard ( Brizard), daughter, Marie Nicolle Boisrond (Jean Marie), daughter, Marie Francoise Clerveau, daughter, Marie Flaure Mondesir, son, Ernest Mondesir ( Leonie), eighteen grandchildren: France, Thierry, Nick, Neika, Florence, Guy, Marvin, Stephan, Wislande, Daphcar, Marla, Reina, Renaldo, Rolph, Norah, Nide, Ernstley, Steenberly, and a sister, Anasthasie Edma ( Vitalherne).
