Verna M. Faus, 90, formerly of Baker Road, Manheim went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Mount Joy, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Stella Brandt Ginder. A homemaker, she was the loving wife of Jay L. Faus Sr. who died in February of 1994. Verna was an active and faithful member of the Chiques Church of the Brethren, Manheim. She also was a member of the Mastersonville Fire Co. Auxiliary. Verna volunteered for the Pleasant View Retirement Community and for the Meals on Wheels for the Manheim area. Her interests included: vegetable and flower gardening, traveling on bus trips, and visiting with friends, spending time at the family cabin “Pappy’s Retreat” in Mifflin County. Her life-long passion was her family, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters: Shirley A. Dellinger of Akron, Mary Jane wife of Leroy Sollenberger of Breinigsville, Thelma E. wife of Marlin E. Shellenberger of Manheim, three sons: David D. husband of Kathy Smith Faus of Landisville, John H. husband of Beckee Shonk Faus of Manheim, Larry E. husband of Rose Collins Faus of Willow Street, a daughter-in-law, Marlene Faus of Manheim, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, two brothers, Rufus husband of Anna Ginder and Lloyd Ginder both of Manheim. Preceding her in death is a son, Jay L. Faus Jr., two granddaughters: Lori and Angela Faus, a brother, LeRoy Ginder, two sisters: Arlene Spickler, Rhoda Stauffer, a son-in-law, David Dellinger, and a sister-in-law, Nancy Ginder.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Verna’s funeral service at the Chiques Church of the Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing time on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Verna’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
