Verna C. Wenger, 93, of Elizabethtown, and formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services, Elizabethtown. Born in Penn Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Susanna Dourte Brownsberger. Verna was the wife of the late John H. Wenger who died in 1985. She was employed as a news correspondent for the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal; previously Verna worked as a secretary for Attorney David Eaby in Lancaster, and as a bookkeeper for Armstrong World Industries in the Accounts Payable Department. Verna worked passionately and tirelessly for the Democratic Party. She personally met John F. Kennedy during his presidential campaign stop in Lancaster. Verna was the last of her immediate family. She will be missed by her caring friend of many years, Barbara Hower, of Elizabethtown.
Friends are invited to attend her graveside service at Penryn Cemetery, 1258 Newport Road, Penryn, on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 1:30 PM.
