Verda Mae Fahnestock, 94, of Manheim, died peacefully at Lancaster General Hospital and went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 22, 2015.
Born in Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Paul R. and Bertha Hershey Myer. A homemaker, she was the loving wife of Monroe G. Fahnestock who died in November 2001. Verda was a member of White Oak Church of the Brethren, Manheim. She enjoyed her family, flowers, birds, basket making, and crocheting.
Surviving are two daughters: Nancy J. Fahnestock of Manheim, Norma J. wife of Stanley Zeager of Bainbridge; three sons: Paul M. husband of Fern Krall Fahnestock of Manheim, J. Marlin husband of Carol Zeager Fahnestock of Wales, ME, Dale E. husband of Doris Witmer Fahnestock of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 step great granddaughter and 1 step great great grandson; two brothers: J. Hershey husband of Anna Mary Zuck Myer of Womelsdorf, Landis C. Myer of New Holland, three sisters-in law: Mary Loump, Nettie Krall and Mabel Diffenderfer. Preceding her in death are 3 sisters: Helen Jurell, Mildred Myer and Ethel Krall, and two brothers: Clyde Myer and Floyd Myer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Verda Mae’s funeral service at the White Oak Church of the Brethren, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
