Valerie Gale Clawson-MacLaren was called home to God and reunited with her beloved mother, JoAnne "Nannie" Clawson, on Monday, January 6, 2025. Born May 25, 1962 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of JoAnne Marylin Ober Clawson and Robert W. Clawson, Sr. Valerie’s fun personality brought many friends. Her love for music and dancing remained with her though her wonderful life.
In high school Valerie was very popular. She graduated as valedictorian from Manheim Central High School in 1980 and was a standout marksman on the rifle team. From high school, Valerie went on to proudly serve her country in the United States Air Force.
Valerie's greatest gift to us all was the boundless kindness and love she shared. In April of 1987, Valerie was blessed with twin daughters, Ashley Gale and Vanessa Rene’. She was the epitome of a loving mother, always present and devoted to her girls throughout her life. Her love had no limits, and it grew even more when she welcomed her first grandchild, Justine Gale. A spectacular young woman who carries on Valerie’s legacy of kindness, Justine, now a sophomore, deeply loved her "Nannie."
Years later, another granddaughter joined the family, this one proudly carrying her Nannie’s name, Valerie—a true honor. With her ever-expanding heart, Valerie also embraced three amazing grandsons: Richard, Luis, and Trenton, sharing her love and warmth with each of them generously.
Valerie was an exceptional worker, known for her dedication and tireless efforts in Dealer Services at the Manheim Auto Auction, part of Cox Automotive. Her commitment and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. During her final years, as she faced significant health challenges, Cox Automotive showed remarkable kindness and unwavering support—a gesture that Valerie deeply appreciated and that brought immense comfort to her and her family.
Valerie is survived by her daughters, Ashley Torres and Vanessa Helsel. She was a proud and loving "Nannie" to her cherished grandchildren: Justine McNamara, Valerie Torres, Trenton Torres, Richard Torres, and Luis Torres. Valerie shared a deep and grateful love for her wonderful son-in-law, Luis Torres. She is also survived by her caring companion of many years, Don Brunozzi.
Valerie is survived by her siblings, Sherri Myers and Mitchell Clawson, as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, JoAnne and Robert Clawson Sr.; her brother, Robert Clawson Jr.; her niece, Lyndi Myers; and her nephew, Robbie Clawson.
