Thelma J. Rider, 92, Columbia, formerly of Mount Joy, died peacefully Tuesday March 19, 2019 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was the loving wife of J. William “Bill” Rider, and they celebrated 68 years of marriage this past November. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of Henry and Edna (Bradley) Kreiner. Thelma was a floor supervisor at the former Hesteco Garment Factory, Elizabethtown for 30 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of Chiques United Methodist, Mount Joy where she served as a Sunday School teacher. Thelma enjoyed crocheting afghans, sewing, and camping with her family in Potter Co. and Ocean City MD.
Surviving in addition to her husband are six children, Susan, wife of James Thompson, Marilyn wife of Jeff Hornberger, Wilma wife of David Simione, all of Elizabethtown, Michael husband of Ann (Heisey), Cornwall, Alisa Rider, Shermansdale, Dawn wife of Douglas Zook, Mount Joy; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister Etta Gibble, Manheim. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son Billy, and three brothers.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Chiques United Methodist Church, 1215 E. Main St. Mount Joy on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of viewing at the church Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Camp Hill Cemetery, Mount Joy.
