Terry E. Burkhart, 69, of Akron, died at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Born in Reamstown, he was the son of the late Martin and Louella Leisey Burkhart. Terry was the loving husband of Gloria Goshert Burkhart and they observed their 42nd wedding anniversary in November of this year. In 2004 Terry retired from Armstrong World Industries, Landisville facility where he worked for over 35 years. After retirement he was employed by School Specialty Company, Mount Joy. Terry served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He attended Oregon Community United Methodist Church. Terry was an active member of the “Friendly Circle” senior citizen group, Akron. His interests included: Phillies and Lancaster Barnstormers baseball, NASCAR, and being a voracious reader of the Lancaster Newspaper and the Ephrata Review. He will be missed by his beloved cats Sammy and Benny.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Gloria is a brother, Richard Burkhart of Lancaster, three sisters: Gloria Matos, Linda Burkhart both of Reamstown, and Theresa Burkhart of Denver. Preceding him in death are three brothers: Donny, Kenneth, Jeff Burkhart, and two sisters: Sandra Velez and Patricia DeJesus.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Terry’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz, on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
