Stanley M. Carpenter, 91, of Manheim passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in East Hempfield Township, he was the son of the late Leroy and Mary Musselman Carpenter. He was the husband of the late Laura Wagner who died in 2017 and his first wife the late Thelma J. Landis Carpenter who died in 1994. A lifelong farmer, Stanley owned and operated his farm in East Hempfield Township. He was a member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church. Stanley enjoyed hunting, traveling to the mountains and he loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving are five children, John W. husband of Mary Carpenter of Landisville, Joyce E. wife of Kenneth Frey of Mount Joy, Mary Jane wife of Bill Sensenig of Stevens, Jay S. husband of Ruth Carpenter of Lancaster and James R. husband of Arlene Carpenter of Lancaster, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, two step-sons, J. Lester husband of Cheryl Wagner of Ephrata and J. Mark husband of Leone Wagner of Lititz, a brother, Sterling M. Carpenter of Ohio and a sister, Laura Mae wife of Lester Kreider of Lititz. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sidney M. Carpenter.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Hoffer Auditorium, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:30 AM. Friends may visit with the family at Hoffer Auditorium from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery.
