Sarah R. Landis, 91, of Lancaster passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Country Meadows Retirement Community, Lancaster. Born in East Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Milton L. and Edna McGinnis Landis. Sarah retired after working many years as a laboratory technician at Dr. Stephen D. Lockey’s office, Lancaster. She was a faithful member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren where she was involved with the Silver Singles Group and the Prayer Group. Sarah was also a member of the East Petersburg Historical Society. Her interests included gardening, traveling and she loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving is a brother, Richard Landis of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ella Mae Spotts, Anna Landis, Jean Landis, Joanne Schreiber and three brothers, David Kenneth, Charles and Paul Landis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Hempfield Church of the Brethren, corner of Stevens Street and Metzler Road, East Petersburg on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
