Samuel P. Lehman

Samuel P. Lehman, 85, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Conestoga View, Lancaster. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Amelia Pierce Lehman. Sam was the loving husband of the late Verna M. Huber Lehman who died in March of 2004. In his early years Sam worked on farms in Lancaster County. A self-taught carpenter, Sam built several homes including his own home and worked on many construction projects with his father. In his later years Sam was the owner and operator of Lehman Trucking assisting in construction and demolition projects as well as working in salvaging and restoration with the Sylvan Brandt Company in Lititz. He was a member of Grace Community Fellowship, Manheim. His interests included, hunting, traveling to the family cabin in Union County and was a registered dog breeder through the American Kennel Club.

Surviving are two daughters: L. Jean wife of Cletus Balmer of Manheim, Carol A. wife of Stanton Grube of Lititz, three sons: Samuel L. Lehman of Manheim, Ray M. Lehman of Lancaster, Glenn L. husband of Tricia Lehman of Lititz, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four sisters: Mary wife of Henry Nolt of Lititz, Martha wife of Martin Zimmerman of New Holland, LaVerna wife of Robert Hill of Manheim, and Lorraine Martin of Manheim. Preceding him in death is a daughter, Mildred Elaine Lehman, two brothers: Paul and David Lehman, and two sisters: Esther Ginder, and Grace Frey.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sam’s funeral service at Grace Community Fellowship, 1483 North Colebrook Road, Manheim, on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
