Samuel L. "Sam" Zurin, 90, of 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Brethren Village. Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Londa and Laura Long Zurin. Sam was the beloved husband of D. Jean Hollinger Zurin and they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in February of this year. He worked for and retired from S. Clyde Weaver Inc., East Petersburg. Sam enjoyed his years as manager of the S. Clyde Weavers stand at the Allentown Market. Sam also enjoyed decades of part-time farming in Mount Joy. A 1938 graduate of the former Mount Joy High School, Sam was an active and faithful member of the Hempfield Church of the Brethren where he was a lifetime Deacon and caretaker for the church cemetery. Sam was a hard worker and he enjoyed playing table tennis and pool, woodworking, and mowing the lawns of his children in his later years. He loved to spend time visiting with and helping his family. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Carol L. wife of Leon Koser of Manheim, two sons, S. Keith husband of Marjorie Straub Zurin of Manheim and Kevin L. husband of Sue Oberholtzer Zurin of Mount Joy, a daughter-in-law, June L. Balmer Zurin of Mount Joy, eleven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth E. Zurin, three brothers, Amos, Roy and Londa Zurin Jr. and three sisters, Florence Long, Bessie Godfrey and Edna Neideigh. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Hempfield Church of the Brethren, corner of Stevens Street and Metzler Road, East Petersburg on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 6:30 PM with Pastors John Layman and Dana E. Statler officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Salunga Brethren Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Please omit flowers.
