Ruth Sauder Durborow

March 28, 1939 — May 17, 2011

Ruth Sauder Durborow, 72, of East Petersburg passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy. Born in East Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Amos H. and Ruth S. Landis Sauder. She was the wife of the late Daniel C. Durborow who died on November 1, 2010. Ruth served with Eastern Mennonite Missions in both Honduras and Guatemala. Previously, she worked as Director of Millersville International House and in her earlier years, Ruth taught at the Locust Grove Mennonite School in Smoketown. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite College with a B.S. in Elementary Education and Indiana University, Indiana with a M.S. in Adult Education. She was an active and faithful member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school and was a part-time secretary. Surviving are six siblings, Verna L. Peters, Norman L. Sauder, Edith N. Sauder, Mary Jane Sauder all of Manheim, Linda M. wife of Ira Heistand of Elizabethtown and Amos N. husband of Linda Sauder of Manheim and a brother-in-law, George B. Hood of Honduras. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mary S. Sauder, a sister, Dorothy L. Hood and sister-in-law, Arlene Sauder. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Pastors Robert and Luann Yutzy officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
