Ruth S. Geib, 81, of Manheim, died peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Heart Of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz.
Born in Mastersonville, she was the daughter of the late George and Katie Shearer Summy. In 2003, Ruth retired from the Lancaster Urological Group, where she was employed in the office for 26 years; previously, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Brethren Village Lancaster, and worked in the office for the former Raymark Industries Manheim in her early years. She was the loving wife of the late Homer S. Geib who died in September of 2003. A very active and faithful member of Chiques Church Of The Brethren Manheim, Ruth taught Sunday school and was Childrens Director of the Sunday school program, was Past President of the Womens Fellowship, sang in the Ladies Quartet, served as chorister, and was the Wedding Reception Coordinator at the church for many years. Ruth volunteered with meals on wheels in the Manheim area, taught sewing for the local 4-H Clubs in the Penryn area, volunteered for the Manheim Community Farm Show Committee, and in her early years, served as the treasurer, for the former Lancaster Division of the Licensed Practical Nurses Association.
Surviving is a daughter, Patti A. wife of Stan Smith of Milford, OH., two sons: Dennis R. husband of Kathy Groff Geib of Manheim, Brian S. husband of Lori Blevins Geib of New Providence, seven grandchildren, two brothers: Ray S. husband of Dorothy Summy of Mount Joy, Carl S. Summy of Manheim, two sisters: Grace S. wife of Irvin Graybill of Stevens, and Alta S. Moore of Elizabethtown.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from the Chiques Church Of The Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Ministers: Ron A. Strickler and Glen M. Faus officiating. Interment will be in adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Tuesday evening, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing at the church on Wednesday morning, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
