Ruth G. Hamaker, 84, of South Charlotte Street, Manheim, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Maude Spangler Garman. Ruth retired from the Wilbur Chocolate Company, Lititz. She was the loving wife of sixty-one years to the late, Jay K. Hamaker who died in May 2004. Ruth volunteered for Meals on Wheels in the Manheim Area. She was a snowmobile
Enthusiast; with memberships with the Rockabema Snowmobile Club, of Patten, Maine, PA State Snowmobile Association, and the Maine Snowmobile Association. Ruth enjoyed going to the family cabin Vadayatink Hunting Camp in Clinton County and was a big Phillies and Eagles Fan. Ruth was the matriarch of the Hamaker family and lead, organized, and championed family activities and holidays. She had a life long passion for her family and enjoyed spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Surviving is a daughter, Joyce H. wife of Michael L. Hoffman, a son, Michael J. husband of Linda C. Loose Hamaker all of Manheim, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three brothers: Willis, Gilbert, and Richard Garman, and a sister, Beatrice OConnell. Preceding her in death is a son, Gary Hamaker, two brothers: Lester and Allen Garman and a sister, Pauline Shirk.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from the Manheim Brethren In Christ Church, 54 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Greg Funk officiating. Interment will be at Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. There will be a viewing on Friday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
