Ruth E. Ressler, 85, of Manheim, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Born in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Carrie Blank Engel. She was the loving wife of Morris L. Ressler and they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in February of this year. Ruth was a sewing machine operator at the former Parkesburg Garment Factory, former Penn-Elm Apparel and other various sewing factories throughout the area. From 1984 until the present time, she and her husband owned and operated Quilts Are Us and made over 3,000 quilts. Ruth was a faithful member of Hernley Mennonite Church, Manheim where she was active with the women's sewing circle, kitchen committee and she was a former Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed camping with the Camplighter's Association at Woodcrest and she taught 4H in the Manheim area. Surviving in addition to her husband are five sons, James L. husband of Penny Nichols Ressler, Richard E. husband of Linda Ella Ressler both of Alaska, Marlin R. husband of Sherry Dukeman Ressler of Mount Joy, Ron L. husband of Nancy Peters Ressler of Manheim and Melvin W. husband of Michelle Driver Ressler of Virginia, a daughter, Marlene J. wife of Earl Martin Jr. of Manheim, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one brother, Harold R. husband of Anna Mae Engel of Atglen, two sisters, Martha G. wife of Henry Umble and Anna M. wife of Donald Waite both of Cochranville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph E. Engel. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Hernley Mennonite Church, 746 Lebanon Road, Manheim on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
