Ruth E. Brubaker, 93, of Adele Avenue Manheim, died peacefully and went home to be with her Lord, on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim.
Born in East Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Harvey B. and Lizzie Wunderlich Weber. Ruth worked over thirty years in the office for the former Hershey Machine Foundry, that later became the Fuller Company, Manheim, retiring in 1975. She was the wife of the late Abraham C. Brubaker who died in 1977. She was an active and faithful member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Manheim, where she served as a Deacon on the church Consistory, Sunday school teacher, choir member, womens fellowship member, and was in the Kappa-Nu Sunday school class.
Many people in the Manheim community appreciated her leadership with the Stiegel Roses Senior Citizens Group that would meet monthly throughout the years. She had a volunteer spirit and contributed countless hours for the Manheim Community Library, Nearly-Nu Thrift Shop, and Meals on Wheels for the Manheim area for over thirty years. She was a member of the Manheim Historical Society. For her volunteer spirit, Ruth received the Service To Mankind Award from the Manheim Sertoma Club as well as the WGAL-TV "Time To Care" Award.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda G. Rohrer of Manheim, a son, Frederick C. husband of Cheryl Brubaker of Western Springs, IL, four grandchildren: Gretchen wife of Philip Miller of Manheim, Rick husband of Jennifer Brubaker of Cary, NC, Ross husband of Katie Brubaker of Peachtree City, GA, Reed husband of Jess Brubaker of Western Springs, IL, two great grandchildren: Jackson and Alexandra Brubaker, and a sister, Mae wife of Ralph Summers of Manheim. Preceding her in death was a brother, Clair Weber.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from St. Pauls United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street Manheim, on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Pastor William J. LaSalle officiating. Interment is in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
