Ruth Anna Thompson Melleby, 88, of Columbia, PA and formerly of Pennsauken, NJ, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday January 16, 2013 at the Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Columbia, PA. Born in Camden, NJ she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Ruthanna (Powell) Thompson. Ruth worked for the New Jersey Dept. of Corrections before retiring. A compassionate follower of Christ, Ruth enjoyed her family, her church, and always sought to serve others. Surviving are two daughters, Christine A. Justice of Swedesboro, NJ, Jana Griscavage of Onsted, MI; three sons, Ron Melleby of Mount Joy, PA, Eric Melleby of Dayton, OH, David Melleby of New Vienna, OH; twelve grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister Edna Thompson, wife of William Griscom of Pennsville, NJ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother John Thompson, Jr. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from the Stephenson-Brown Funeral Home, 33 W. Maple Ave., Merchantville, NJ, on Saturday January 19, 2013 at 3:30 P.M. There will be a public viewing from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
