Roy E. Zimmerman, 81, of Lititz, and formerly of Lincoln, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Brethren Village. Born in Warwick Township, he was the son of the late Sadie F. Hertzog. Roy was the loving husband of S. Kathryn Ober Zimmerman and they observed their 60th wedding anniversary in May of last year. In his early years Roy worked for the Ephrata Shoe Company, he then was employed as a floral designer for Girvin’s Flower Shop, Leola, and Oberholtzers Flowers, Lititz, he also worked for Martins Grocery Store in Lincoln. Roy was a life-long member of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, Lititz, where he served the church by creating floral arrangements, teaching Sunday school for many years for the Junior High School students, and helping with general maintenance of the church. Roy and Kathryn volunteered on mission projects through the Middle Creek Church traveling to Haiti in 1993 and 1997.
Surviving in addition to his wife Kathryn, are extended family, caring neighbors, long-time friends, and church friends. Preceding him in death is a sister Rosalie Dull Yeakel.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Roy’s funeral service at the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, 351 Middle Creek Road, Lititz, on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
