Rose Marie Heffner, 99, of Elm passed away at home on Friday, February 22, 2013. Born in Palo Seco, Toa Baja, Puerto Rico on June 8, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Carmen Pascual Belmonte. She was the wife of the late Walter W. Heffner who died in 1984. Rose graduated from St. Rose Catholic Academy, Bajamon, Puerto Rico in 1930 and moved to Manheim in 1943. She was a charter member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim where she was active with the Women’s Workshop for many years. Rose retired as a seamstress in 1975. She volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels in the Manheim area and she was a Girl Scout leader. Rose enjoyed traveling, music and she loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Milagros wife of Angel Vanrell of Orlando, Florida and Barbara wife of Ernie Martin of Elm, seven grandchildren, Angel Vanrell of Huntsville, Alabama, Agnes Vanrell Thomas of Orlando, Florida, Magdalena Vanrell Horrigan of Tucson, Arizona, Carolyn Vanrell Lucas of West Dover, Vermont, Gabriel Vanrell of Orlando Florida, Michelle Martin Miller of Lebanon and Michael Martin of Manheim, fifteen great grandchildren, Crystal and Lee Vanrell, Brandon, Garin and Lance Thomas, Andrew, Matthew and Amanda Horrigan, Cameron and Alona Lucas, Gillian and Bridget Martin, Megan, Shane and Blake Miller, a sister, Emma Belmonte of Palo Seco, Puerto Rico and a brother, Jorge Belmonte of Bajamon, Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Antonia Beam and Carmen Sintes and three brothers, Jesus, Jose and Rafael Belmonte.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Father Francis T. Menei as Celebrant. Interment in Graybills Brethren Cemetery, Elm. There will be no viewing. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service with Recitation of the Rosary starting at 10:30 AM. Please omit flowers.
