Rose M. (Wood) Malachuk, formerly of Manheim PA, Virginia and Florida, passed into the arms of Our Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Manor Care, Elizabethtown, PA where she had resided the last 4 years. Born at home in Vienna VA, she was the daughter of the Late Wilfred and Edith (Hottle) Wood. While her children were young, she was a homemaker and business partner to her former husband of 35 years, Les. After her children were grown, she continued her professional career and became a Tax Preparer and later an Office Supervisor for H&R Block, as well as a Real Estate Agent, working in PA, VA, and FL.
Rose’s main passion was her family. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, was her greatest pleasure. Rose had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing word puzzles, playing BINGO (especially with her sister) and collecting hummingbird figurines.
She is survived by two daughters, Lori (Ed) Breece of Lititz PA, Karen (Tim) Frey of Mount Joy PA, and one son, Keith Malachuk, companion of Sherri Boland of FL; grandchildren Jim Ober, Jon Ober, Ashley Tshudy and Scott Frey; great-grandchildren Ricky, Jordan and Brooklynn. She is also survived by one sister, Linda (Ernie) Morgan, Maurertown, VA and three brothers, Clifton (Eleanor) Wood, Haymarket, VA, Ernie (Phyllis) Wood, Maurertown, VA, and Larry (Jane) Wood of Catlett, VA; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother David and her niece Valerie.
A local funeral service will be held at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, PA, on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 4:00 PM, with a public viewing from 3:00 PM until the time of service.
There will also be additional funeral services held at Little River Baptist Church, 40385 Braddock Rd, Aldie, VA on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:30 AM with interment immediately following at Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Hwy, Manassas, VA. There will be a public viewing at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, ¬P.
