Roger L. Engle, 90, of Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday July 8, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy. He was the husband of Margaret M. (Miller) Engle of Manheim, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage in December of 2009. Born in Cornwall, he was the son of the late William H. and Sarah E.(Becker) Engle. Roger was a iron ore miner for Bethlehem Steel at the Cornwall Mines for over 35 years before retiring in 1973. Roger was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church of Manheim, and had served on the Vestry of the Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a life member of Elstonville Sportsmen Association.
Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret is a son James R. Sr. husband of Karen (Herneisey) Engle of Manheim; six grandchildren; two-step grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Judith A. Findley, and by twelve brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 90 S. Charlotte St., Manheim PA, on Friday July 23, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. Inurnment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Friday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
