Robert Steven Vogt, 63, of Hossler Road, Manheim, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Altoona, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Marie Aurand Vogt. He was the husband of M. Carol Lamb Vogt and they celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary in March of this year. Steve retired from SPD in Philadelphia as a source auditor and previously he worked twenty five years at High Steel Structures, Inc., Lancaster. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Steve was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Lititz. He was also a member of the Lititz VFW Post 1463 and the Mazda Miata Club, Lancaster. His interests included gardening, playing golf, and watching Penn State football. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Nicholas. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Erin L. wife of Stephen Kreck and Jennifer L. Kirk both of Lititz, a son, Christopher R. Kirk of Lancaster, one grandson, Nicholas, three brothers, Paul husband of Brenda Vogt of Stevens, Charles husband of Wendy Vogt of Belleville, Christopher Vogt of Harrisburg and two sisters, Beth Vogt of Boalsburg and Diana wife of Jim Boettger of Lititz. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Avenue, Lititz on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Father James O'Blaney as celebrant. Immediately following the Mass of Christian Burial everyone is invited to a luncheon at the church. Interment is in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM. There will be no public viewing. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Please omit flowers.
