Robert James Rutter, Sr.

     Robert James Rutter, Sr., 83, of Mount Joy, died unexpectedly, Monday, April 1, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Deeg) Rutter who died in 2013.  Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late John and Lulu (Seyler) Rutter. He was a graduate of Columbia High School. He was an electrician for the Hamilton Watch Co. for 31 years, and retired from the former Kmart Corp. after 13 years of service.  He proudly served with the US Navy for 4 years aboard the USS Kidd and then served 2 years with the Naval Reserve in Philadelphia.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandson, he was also a successful archer, and enjoyed salt water fishing.

     Surviving is a son Robert James, Jr. husband of Stacy (Getz) Rutter, Mount Joy; a grandson Robert Alan husband of Heather Rutter; two great-grandchildren Conner and Skylar; a brother Tom husband of Diane Rutter, Columbia and a sister Pat Speros, and three step-children. He was preceded in death by a sister Delores Eck, and a brother John Rutter, and one step-child

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 W. Main Street, Mount Joy, on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  There will be a time of viewing and visitation at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Private interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
