Robert L. Popeye Alleman Sr., 61, of 962 Hill Street Manheim passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at JC Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ellen Bender Alleman. He was the husband of Doris J. Dupler Alleman and they celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in May of this year. For over thirty years, Popeye worked as a mechanic for Leffler Energy, Mount Joy and also part time at Kreisers Garage, Manheim. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. His interests included hunting, butchering and in his earlier years he enjoyed playing baseball.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Sheila wife of Larry Fetter, Ellen Rittle, Robert Alleman Jr., Shawn husband of Jane Alleman all of Manheim and Jessica wife of Chad Good of Richland; five grandchildren, Kayla, Deisten, Melonie, Savannah and Aubrey; three brothers, Clarence Alleman Jr., J. Alleman, Rick Alleman and four sisters, Rose Tshudy, Corrina Bender, Mildred Carrol and Mabel Stover. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Edward E. Rittle Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and again at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
