Robert L. Grube

Robert L. Grube, 79, of Manheim passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Lancashire Hall from complications of an extended illness. Born in Warwick Township on November 2, 1934, he was the son of the late D. Bryan and Elizabeth Hess Grube. He was the loving husband of Sarah Ann Fellman Grube and they would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary this December. Robert was a lifelong resident of Lancaster County, except for a few years he spent in California. He proudly served in the United States Army 82nd Air Borne during the Korean War. Robert owned and operated the former Grube’s Carpet Services, Manheim. He graduated from the former Rothsville High School in 1952 and he was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, Lititz. An outdoorsman, he was a prior member of Hemlock Archery Club and hunted extensively in Pennsylvania, Maryland and the Carolinas. He once related how he had taken his 67th deer with a bow on his 67th birthday.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons from a previous marriage, Lamar husband of Vicki Grube of Manheim, Gary Grube, and Jeffrey husband of Belinda Grube both of Arkansas, two sisters, Nancy Brenner of Lititz, Barbara wife of Robert Stripe of Rothsville, two brothers, David husband of Agnes Grube of Loosdrecht, Holland, Gerald husband of Karen Grube of Fox Point, Wisconsin, two step-daughters, Jodi Wert, Melissa Melbert, step-son, Scott Worden, six grandchildren, thirteen nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
He will always be remembered by family and friends for his story-telling, friendly good humor, integrity and humility. Rest in Peace brother, Bob, as you will be missed and never forgotten.
