Robert J. “Bob” Kleckner, 85, of Manheim and formerly of Drexel Hill, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Albert S. and Alice Gerhart Kleckner. Bob was the loving husband of Betty R. Parfitt Kleckner, and they observed their 63 wedding anniversary in November of last year. He was a carpenter by trade, retiring from Beatty Lumber in Upper Darby, PA. Previously, he worked as a machinist for General Electric Corporation of Philadelphia. A US Army veteran, he proudly served in the Korean War. Recently Bob had been attending St. Edward’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster. Prior to that, he was an active and faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Manheim, serving on the Vestry, as a Jr. Warden, and on several committees, as well as maintaining the church property.
Surviving in addition to his wife Betty are three daughters, Diane L. Limbert and Barbara A. Flanagan, both of Downingtown, and Kim E. Carroll of Folsom; two grandchildren, Hillary Brown and Christopher Neff; two great granddaughters, Mila and Ellie; and a sister, Lucy Lutz of Laurel, DE.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bob’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family on Friday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township.
