Robert E. “Bob” White, 91, formerly of East Petersburg and Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Brethren Village. Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late Harry and Hattie Miller White and was the husband of the late Mary Reardon Forney White, who passed away in 1989.
A graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was employed for 35 years at RCA in Lancaster, where he worked in the maintenance department.
An avid Atlanta Braves fan and bowler, some of Bob’s happiest days were spent at his cottage in Red Point, MD, on the Chesapeake Bay.
Bob was a member of the Hempfield Church of the Brethren, and former past president of the East Petersburg Lions Club. He was a member of the Lancaster County Shrine Club, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Shrine.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Robin, wife of Dennis Wehrmeyer, Florence, KY; step son, Dr. John Forney, husband of Linda, Ephrata; step daughter, Judi, wife of Roland Hahn, Peoria, AZ; four grandchildren, Matthew and Jeffrey Forney, Jared and Erica Hahn; six great grandchildren and his companion, Doris Parmer, who has been a lifelong friend. In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by a brother Gerald White.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bob’s Funeral Service in the Chapel at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Hempfield Church of the Brethren Cemetery, East Petersburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Bob’s memory to the Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606.
