Robert B. Risser, 90, of Lititz, passed away at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center on Monday, March 14, 2016, a few days shy of his 91st birthday. Born on the family farm in Lititz, he was the son of the late Jacob W. and Edna Buchen Risser and was the husband of the late Lois I. Hollinger Risser, who passed away in 2003.
A 1942 Rothsville High School graduate, Robert’s life was centered around his family and working his family farm, which was located behind the Lititz United Methodist Church on Market Street. For 30 years he was a bus driver for the Warwick School District and was a transporter for the Amish.
He enjoyed attending school and sporting events for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and the time he spent with them. He was an avid Phillies fan and he enjoyed watching college basketball. Robert had a soft spot for animals, especially his dog Jasper.
He will be lovingly missed by his sons, R. Eugene, husband of Jean Risser, Lititz, J. William Risser, Ephrata, C. Thomas, husband of Janice Risser, Leola; daughters, Kathleen R., wife of Paul Harclerode, Lancaster, Cheryl, wife of Mike Mitchell, Lititz; sisters, Ruth Hershey, Lancaster, Kathryn Hoffman, Shillington; 18 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Paul, Leon and Jacob Risser and sisters, Lillian Weaver and Edna Risser.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to Robert’s Funeral Service on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 Market Street, Lititz, preceded by a visitation with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Hammercreek Mennonite Cemetery.
