Richard W. “Rich” Hanna, 78, of Manheim passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William Hanna and Eleanor Kauffman Boyle and the step-son of Patrick Boyle. He was the husband of the late Jeanette E. “MiMi” Mariana Hanna. Retired in 1998, Rich worked at the former Science Press, Ephrata for thirty years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Security Agency stationed at HQ ASAPAC Camp Oji Japan. Rich was of the Christian faith. He was a life member of the NRA and Dela-Ches Fishing Association. His interests included hunting, fishing, cooking, and gardening. Rich loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are seven sons, John A. Dougherty of Lititz, William F. husband of Sheri Dougherty of Manheim, Joseph E. Dougherty of Willow Street, Thomas A. husband of Trish Sharp of Garnet Valley, James R. Hanna, Keith M. husband of Linda Hanna, Richard P. husband of Trudy Hanna all of Manheim, three daughters, Barbara A. Gantz of Lititz, Patricia A. Dougherty of Manheim and Melissa A. Garvey of Manheim, twenty-one grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a sister, Nina Kilgore of Butler, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Finlay.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
