Richard N. Haldeman, 83, of Manheim, died peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late John S. and Missouri M. (Shroff) Haldeman. Richard retired from the former Raymark Industries of Manheim after 35 years of service. After retirement he worked for a number of years at Nolt's Ponds. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict while being station at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. He was trained as a medic and played his trombone in the MRTC Divisional Band. He attained the rank of Corporal, and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Lebanon, where he was involved with the prayer team, and played his trombone in the church orchestra. His hobbies included carpentry, music, gardening, fishing, hunting, and helping his friends and neighbors. Surviving is his wife of 59 years Anna Rita (DeSanto) Haldeman, a daughter Debra wife of Robert Widmark, a son Ronald husband of Joan (Klim) Haldeman, four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Justin, Esther, and Stephen, and a sister Dorthea (Haldeman) wife of Ronald Gingrich. He was preceded in death by a brother Sterling Haldeman and a sister Helen (Haldeman) Allen. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service, at Faith Baptist Church, 220 South 22nd Street Lebanon on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. There will be a public viewing on Tuesday at the church from 5:00 P.M. until the time of the service. A light reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Mission Fund, 220 South 22nd St. Lebanon Pa 17042. Richard's wife and family would to thank the ICU, doctors, and nurses at Lancaster General Hospital for their wonderful caring treatment.
