Richard A. "Dick" Hiester

Richard A. “Dick” Hiester, 70, of Manheim, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Arthur and Thelma Downing Hiester. He was the loving husband of Judith “Judy” Balmer Hiester and they celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary in May. Dick worked as project manager/estimator for Greiner Industries, Mount Joy. He also worked as a surveyor and draftsman for several companies. Following retirement, Dick enjoyed working part time for Miller and Bixler Auto Parts, Lebanon. He graduated in 1963 from Hamburg High School and served in the United States Army Reserves. Dick was a member of Zion Blue Mountain United Church of Christ, Strausstown. He enjoyed traveling to the mountains and Chesapeake Bay. Dick loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Bradley husband of Sara Hiester of Mechanicsburg, Rochelle wife of Kevin King of Lebanon, step-son, Christopher Rankin of Manheim, eight grandchildren, Chelsea, Caitlyn, Robert, Kole, Morton, Hannah, Elisa and Kaden and a sister, Karen wife of Arthur Kissling of Bernville.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Tuesday, July, 26, 2016 at 10:30 AM. There will be a public viewing from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment in Haag’s Cemetery, Bernville at 2:30 PM.
