Raymond R. Givler, 90, formerly of Beacon Hill Road, Lancaster went home to be with Jesus on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Harvey and C. Irene Mulvaney Givler. Ray was employed by the Hershey Foods Corporation Reese's Plant for twenty-five years; prior to that he worked twenty-five years for Burnham Inc. Lancaster. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Ray was the loving husband of Ernestine M. "Tina" Grebinger Givler who died in December of 2007. He was a member of Calvary Church Lancaster. Ray had a passion for flying airplanes; he owned a piper cub aircraft and two tri-pacer airplanes that he refurbished in his garage. He held a private pilot's license with multi engine ratings. His memberships included: Airline Owners and Pilots Association, former member of the Lancaster Aero Club and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are two daughters: Sondra D. "Sandy" Givler of Quarryville, Kathy L. wife of Mark Andrews of Washington Boro., four sons: Thomas R. Givler of Paola, Kansas, Raymond R. husband of Michelle Johnson of Hartwell, Georgia, Jody L. husband of Anita Givler of Mohnton, PA., and Douglas A. Givler of Mountville, PA., twelve grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are three brothers: Benjamin, Harvey, and Horace Givler. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim, PA on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Norman Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 12:30 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
