Manheim

Ray E. Sites, 87, of Manheim, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went peacefully home to rest in the arms of his almighty savior, Jesus Christ on August 18, 2024. Born in Mt. Hope, he was the son of the late Menno and Lottie Keener Sites. Ray was the loving husband of Martha M. Leedy Sites and they would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in September of this year. In his early days Ray worked as a machine operator for A.J. Beford Shoe Company, Lititz, for 10 years; he continued his employment at the former Raymark Industries, in Manheim, for over 35 years until his retirement. During his retirement he worked part time for 10 years at the Manheim Auto Auction. Ray was a faithful member of LCBC, Manheim Campus, where he volunteered as a greeter before services. He enjoyed his small group Bible studies over the years with friends and family. Ray was an avid hunter, with a deep passion for the outdoors; Ray enjoyed traveling to the family cabin “Stoney Brook” in Potter County where he loved riding his ATV during the summer, and especially riding his snowmobile in the winter. His memberships included: Manheim Sportsman’s Association, NRA, past member of Elstonville Sportsman Association, and many gun and Trap Shooting clubs. Throughout the years Ray participated in many Trap Shooting events, it was a hobby he loved. Ray and Martha traveled extensively over the years throughout Europe, Alaska, and many of the states in the greater US. He had a soft heart for donating to various organizations including feed the children around the world. He also loved animals, especially the family pets. He loved to tell a funny joke or two and make people laugh or sit and tell you a good story from his past. Ray had a humble way of drawing people close to him, and he was adored by his family and close friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Martha, are two daughters: Debra wife of David Vogel, Michele wife of J. Michael Shelly all of Manheim, three grandchildren: Dustin husband of Gina Vogel, Dacia Vogel and her son, Ashton Newhouse, and Mason husband of Amanda Shelly; and a sister, Donna wife of Mike Lease of Manheim. Preceding him in death is a daughter, Sharon Sites, a brother, Kenneth Sites, and a sister, Jane Hoover.
