Randolph L. “Randy” Groff, 62, of Manheim passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy with his wife by his side. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ralph W. and Mona Berryman Groff. He was the loving husband of Gwen M. Nauman Groff and they would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in October. Randy worked in sales for Longenecker’s Hardware, Manheim. Previously, he worked twenty years for F&M College and part-time for Masonic Village, Elizabethtown as a bus driver. Randy graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1969 and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, Elizabethtown. A 32nd Degree Mason, Randy was a member of the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682 F&AM, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Harrisburg Consistory, High Twelve Club and Harrisburg American Legion Post 0945. Randy enjoyed working on his 48 Chevy, collecting antiques, traveling and he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sisters, Sharon Frey and Paula “Polly” Groff both of Elizabethtown and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Groff.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at Masonic Village, John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel on Monday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until the time of service with a Masonic Service starting at 7:00 PM. Please omit flowers.
