R. Aldine Miller, 86, of Mount Joy, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Sunbury, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel and Ruth Shirey Miller. A Registered Nurse, Aldine worked at Pleasant View Retirement Community and later retired from Cornwall Manor, Lebanon. She was a member of Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, Lititz, serving as a Deaconess, and was involved with Mission projects and Golden Bridges. Aldine had a lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors, hiking all over Europe and Africa, and participating in an archeological dig in Israel to uncover the ancient city of Ai. She was well known for fishing on numerous continents and Alaska, and most recently wrote an article which was published in Fish & Game magazine.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen A. wife of Kenneth E. Summers of Mount Joy, Carol wife of Edward Petrow of Glenmore, a son Gerald W. husband of Jane A. H. Longenecker of Harrisburg, four grandchildren, Kathryn, Erin, James, and Emily Longenecker. Preceding her in death were two brothers and five sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM. There will be a viewing on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Witness Park, Lititz, PA.
