Peggy L. Derr

Peggy L. Derr, 87 of Lititz, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel Long Leibfried. Formerly of Newmanstown, she was the wife of the late Jean E. Derr, who passed away in September of 2001.

Peggy was on the high school swim team and a graduate of the Hershey High School. She retired in 1985 from Sterling Drug Company in Myerstown and was a former member and board member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Millbach.

Active in the Hershey community, she was the first female president of the Hershey Region Antique Automobile Club of America, A.A.C.A., and was a member of the Hershey Coin Club and Hershey Historical Society. Peggy was an avid Hershey Bears fan and season ticket holder. She liked to work on counted cross stitch projects and to go bowling.

She is survived by a son, David, husband of Anna Derr of Newmanstown; two granddaughters, Kathryn, wife of Brandon Betz of Lititz, Rebecca, wife of Brian Fries of Mountville; a brother, Richard, husband of Mary Jane Leibfried of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Kathryn Wertz of Elizabethtown and numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Robertson, Jean Schwanger and Betty Fenicle; and four brothers, Walter, Edgar, John and Harry Leibfried.

Relatives and friends are invited to Peggy’s memorial service at the Buch-Heisey Funeral Home, 216 South Broad St., Lititz, on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 7:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Millbach Cemetery.
