Paul E. Hollinger, formerly of Mount Joy, and a resident of Brethren Village Lancaster, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on his 86th birthday, Monday, April 30, 2012. Born in West Donegal Township, he was the son of the late John Henry and Edna Enterline Hollinger. For more than 26 years Paul worked in banking in Elizabethtown and was assistant manager of the bank for many years; previously he worked for 15 years at the former Mount Joy Mutual Insurance Company. He was also an independent insurance agent for many years; Paul received certificates in banking and insurance during his professional career. He was the loving husband of Jean Stauffer Hollinger; they observed their 64th wedding anniversary in October of last year. Paul had a life-long passion for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a very active member of West Green Tree Church of the Brethren in Elizabethtown where he served as : church treasurer for 17 years, Sunday school teacher for 30 years, building fund treasurer and committee person, church board, choir member, chorister, lifetime deacon, and sang in the men's quartet. Paul was an active, faithful member of Elizabethtown Rotary; he also volunteered at the Mount Joy Gift and Thrift Shop as well as other area organizations. He was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, and he really enjoyed music. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters: Marilyn K., wife of Charles S. Keener of Rheems, Joanne M., wife of John H. Bevan of Landisville, Shirley E., wife of Dennis D. Houseal of Mount Joy, a son, Philip S., husband of Donna L. Kreider Hollinger of Elizabethtown, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Ann, wife of Dan Kauffman of Anderson, S.C., and two brothers, J. Harold E., husband of Ruth Hollinger of Elizabethtown, and James E., husband of Anne Hollinger of Lady Lake FL. Preceding him in death is a daughter, Carolyn F. Hollinger, and a brother, Jay E. Hollinger. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 740 Green Tree Road, Elizabethtown on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the Heilig Funeral Home, 21 West Main Street, Mount Joy on Thursday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
