Paul E. Gantz, 86, formerly of Laurel Street, Manheim passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Harry Gantz and Esther Eckert Gantz Brown. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Dyer Gantz and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in November of last year. Retired in 1988, Paul worked at the former Raymark Industries, Manheim for forty six years. He also worked part time at Weis Markets, Manheim for ten years. Paul was an active and faithful member of Ruhl's United Methodist Church, Manheim where he was the Sunday school treasurer for thirty five years and he was involved with the food committee. Paul was also caretaker and grounds keeper for the church cemetery for many years. He graduated from Manheim Central High School in 1943 and he was a former member of Prospectors Stock Club, Manheim. In his earlier years, Paul enjoyed fishing, bowling, bus trips and camping. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Phyllis E. wife of Bob Mervos of Lancaster, a son, Donald E. husband of Jodi Michael Gantz of Manheim, three grandchildren, Tye Gantz, Greg husband of Dana Mervos, Kiley wife of Brandon Ziegler, two great granddaughters, Olivia and Elliana Ziegler and a sister, Arline Brandt of Palmyra. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Gantz. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Ruhl's United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 3:30 PM with Pastor Rob Timlin and Pastor Lee Damon officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Friday afternoon from 2:30 PM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
