Paul D. Rettew, 79, of Manheim passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Elizabeth Township, he was the son of the late Earl and Elsie Fetter Rettew. He was the loving husband of Mary Jane Hostetter Rettew and they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in June. Paul retired as a truck driver after 52 years for Ray D. Burkholder Trucking, Lititz. He was a member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim. Paul was also a member of Brunnerville Hunting Camp in Potter County and Rambling Roses Camping Club. Paul loved to provide for his family, trucking, gardening, fishing, watching baseball, NASCAR, spending time tinkering around in the yard and especially spending time with his loving family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Bruce A. husband of Denise Garber Rettew, Mark A. husband of Sheryl Hertzler Rettew and Timothy S. Rettew companion of Brisa Saks all of Manheim, six grandchildren, Jessica fiancée of Joshua, Holly, Tyler, Josh, Drew, Nick and a great granddaughter, Addilyn, one brother, Carl husband of Nancy Rettew of Lititz and a sister, Betty Bartsch of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a son, Dale E. Rettew and a brother, Roy E. Rettew.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM. There will be a public viewing at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Ruhl’s United Methodist Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
