Paul D. Long, Jr.

Paul D. Long, Jr., 83, of Mount Joy, died peacefully Tuesday August 22, 2017 at ManorCare Health Services, Elizabethtown. He was the husband of Dawn B. (Young) Long and they celebrated 50 years of marriage this past August. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Paul D. Sr. and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Long. Paul had been employed at Jerome H. Rhoads, Inc of Lancaster and Quarryville for 45 years before retiring. Upon retiring, he was employed part-time by Rutt’s Machine Shop in Elizabethtown. Paul enjoyed fixing things around the home, especially welding, working on cars, and he greatly enjoyed reading.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons David M. husband of Vanessa Long, Marietta, Jeffrey P. husband of Heather Long, Lititz, Michael S. husband of Sheryl Long, Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; three brothers Stanley husband of Eleanor Long, Hersey, Donald husband of Esther Long, Mechanicsburg, Barry husband of Kathleen Long, Lebanon; and two sisters Gloria Wilson, Shreveport PA and Thelma Farst, Lacey WA. In addition to his parents Paul was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy on Wednesday August 30, 2017 at 11:30 AM. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul’s memory may be sent to Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard, P.O. Box 8601 Lancaster PA 17604-8601.
