Patricia I. “Pat” Imes, 84, of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Reba Richardson Imhof. Pat was the loving wife of A. Floyd Imes and they would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 20th of this year. She was a 1951 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and English. Pat worked for 27 years in the Warwick School District as a Spanish and English teacher. Throughout her teaching career Pat taught 3rd through 12th grade levels; and was also a teacher for the Manheim Central School District at the former Fairland Elementary School. Pat worked part time in the Registration Department for the Manheim Auto Auction for 19 years.
Pat was an active, faithful, and beloved member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim. She held lifetime memberships with the Penn State University Alumni Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and the PHI MU Sorority at Penn State. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross with their Pet Therapy Program, and was a member of the Manheim Women’s Club. Pat and her husband Floyd had a passion for travel. They traveled extensively over the years and visited more than 6 continents and 50 countries. Her interests included bird watching, and observing all of God’s creatures that she could see from the windows of her home.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are three nieces: Dr. Carolyn Gotay wife of Mark Gotay of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Pamela Cook wife of Paul Gietzel of San Rafael, CA and Diane Cook of Raleigh, NC. Preceding her in death is a sister, Winifred Cook.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street, Manheim, on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday morning at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
