Pamela Kay Brubaker, 79, of Mount Joy, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Urbana, Illinois February 28, 1945, the daughter of Milo and Verna (Augsburger) Heiser.
She attended Goshen College, Goshen Indiana, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. There Pam met and later married J. Kenneth (Ken) Brubaker, MD on June 10, 1967. She worked as a nurse for Hospice & Community Care, Lancaster. She received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Temple University, Philadelphia, and then worked as a social worker with Hospice and at Landis Homes, Lititz. She developed caregiver support groups for loved ones of persons with dementia. Pam was a member of the Mount Joy Mennonite Church. She was a children’s Sunday School teacher and active in Women’s Bible Study. One of her joys was being a life-long learner. But Pam's greatest joy was the bonds she formed with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Ken, she is survived by her son Brent (Kathy) Mount Joy; her daughter Melissa Collins (Brett), Marietta; and her daughter Kirsten Fuhr (Adam), Georgetown, TX; 11 grandchildren; and her sister Jo Ann Heiser (Guy Murphy), Urbana, IL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Services for Pamela will be private. Contributions in her memory may be sent to Mennonite Disaster Service, 583 Airport Road, Lititz PA 17543 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
