Nancy R. Reese, 92, formerly of Kingston, died Thursday November 27, 2014, at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA, where she was a resident. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late J. Taliesin and Catherine (Lewis) Richards. She was the widow of the late Benjamin H. Reese, Jr. She graduated from the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of nursing as an R.N., received a B.S from Western Reserve University, and a MEQ from Wilkes College. She worked at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, the former Nesbitt Hospital in Kingston, and was coordinator of the Practical Nursing program at the Wilkes-Barre Vo-Tech School until her retirement. She and Ben moved to Bayonet Point, Florida where she again worked as a Head Nurse at Mease Hospital, New Port Richey, FL, and finally as a teacher of health occupations at Gulf High School in New Port Richey, FL. She proudly served her country during WW II as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps with duty at Camp Lejeune, NC and the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Nancy was a member of the former First Welsh Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving is her brother David Richards of Cincinnati, OH, a son LTC (Ret) Richard T. Reese and daughter-in law Susan T. Reese of Woodbridge, VA, 3 granddaughters: MAJ Morgan Reese PE, U.S. Army, Kathryn Ripley RN, CPT Erika Reese M.D., U.S. Army, and two great grandsons, Noah and Jack Ripley.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service, with Military Honors, in the Chapel at Maple Hill Cemetery, 68 East St. Mary’s Road, Hanover Twp. on Saturday May 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests that donations be made to Fisher House at www.fisherhouse.org in her name.
